Temple Tuesday: My newest temple

"Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Cor. 6:19–20).

This is Tiago, the new little temple we welcomed into our home this month. He's been keeping me distracted the last 9 months from doing a good job on Temple Tuesdays. I hope to get back on track soon though :)

Temple Tuesday #41

“The world can be a challenging and difficult place in which to live. We are often surrounded by that which would drag us down. As you and I go to the holy houses of God, as we remember the covenants we make within, we will be more able to bear every trial and to overcome each temptation. In this sacred sanctuary we will find peace; we will be renewed and fortified” - Pres. Thomas S. Monson

Temple Tuesday #40

Salt Lake Temple - The House of the Lord

"Some degree of sacrifice has ever been associated with temple building and with temple attendance. Countless are those who have labored and struggled in order to obtain for themselves and for their families the blessings which are found in the temples of God." - Pres. Monson

Read about the stone cutter, John Moyle, who carved this amazing part of the Salt Lake Temple in Pres. Uchtdorf's 2008 Conference talk Lift Where You Stand

Temple Tuesday 39

"If you live within relatively close proximity to a temple, your sacrifice could be setting aside the time in your busy lives to visit the temple regularly.” —President Thomas S. Monson.

Temple Tuesday #38

It would be a fine thing if … parents would have in every bedroom in their house a picture of the temple so [their children] from the time [they are] infant[s] could look at the picture every day [until] it becomes a part of [their lives]. When [they reach] the age that [they need] to make [the] very important decision [concerning going to the temple], it will have already been made. - President Spencer W. Kimball

Temple Tuesday #36

Temple ordinances guide us to our Savior and give us the blessings that come to us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Temples are the greatest university of learning known to man, giving us knowledge and wisdom about the Creation of the world. Endowment instructions give guidance as to how we should conduct our lives here in mortality. … The ordinance consists of a series of instructions on how we should live and covenants we make to live righteously by following our Savior.” - Robert D. Hales

Temple Tuesday #35

"There are more temples across the earth than there have ever been. More people in all the world have felt the Spirit of Elijah move them to record the identities and facts of their ancestors' lives."—Henry B. Eyring

Temple Tuesday #34

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost." - Arthur Ashe
Los Angeles LDS Temple
What do you sacrifice to serve in the temple or in your community? A movie with your spouse or friends? Money for a babysitter? Grocery shopping without kids? A hobby? How will you be a hero this week and make service a priority?

Temple Tuesday 33

"I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do." - Da Vinci (not exactly a temple quote, but very applicable to all of life's decisions, including attending the temple and fulfilling other religious responsibilies)

"The temple is the house of the Lord. The basis for every temple ordinance and covenant…is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Every activity, every lesson, all we do in the Church, point to the Lord and His holy house."—Russell M. Nelson
